Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find questions and answers that not only you, but also other customers ask. If you still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

All LIMAGE heads that we sell are are made of 100% human hair.

Indian human hair is somewhat finer than Chinese hair. Nevertheless, the outermost layer - the cuticle - is chemically removed in both types of hair. European hair is divided into untreated and treated. The European treated hair is only basic treated. However, the cuticle is not detached here. The original colour of the hair remains unchanged, which means that there are slight differences in the colour of European human hair heads.

LIMAGE uses real hair, as it can be processed in the same way as the customers' hair. Furthermore, only real hair can be used to create natural cutting, reshaping and colouring techniques. Human real hair comes from India, China and Europe and is sacrificed, donated or sold. Especially in Asia it is common to sacrifice your hair several times in your life. The hair all comes from living people who voluntarily sacrifice their hair, mainly for religious reasons.

It is often asked whether a training head is infested with nits, as there are small white particles at the hairline. However, these are just remains of the PU foam, which can be combed out easily. Because the head or hair of the training head has neither blood nor a cuticle (dandruff layer), nits cannot nest or survive in the hair.

LIMAGE tripods are designed for all common training and competition heads. We sell a very good quality tripod and would highly recommend this one. So, you can already use small and very light table tripods, but also heavy and very stable floor tripods. Depending on whether you work standing or sitting, there is a matching tripod. Most tripods fit our heads but we cant guarantee the one you have will fit.

If you order a single training head or competition head, it is always delivered without a tripod.

The L´IMAGE training heads are ideal for many areas. During training, all cutting, dyeing and blow-drying techniques can be practised. They are used at seminars where new cutting and colour trends are presented. The training heads are also at catwalks events, for hair and make-up prestyling before the model hits the runway. The champion heads are specifically designed for national and international competitions and are certified by the OMC (Organisation mondiale Coiffeure). These heads have shoulders and a larger head circumference.

Unfortunately, this question cannot be answered generally. It always depends on your wishes and plans. For haircuts and colouring, training heads with a hair length with approx. 35cm are suggested. For putting the hair up, you should definitely use a training head with at least a 50cm hair length. We are more than happy to advise you by phone at +44 7590 553942 by e-mail, at info@equipthecreative.com or via WhatsApp at +44 7590 553942

A nasolabial fold appears when smiling. This wrinkle extends on both sides of the upper end of the nostrils next to the corners of the mouth. This wrinkle is very difficult to adjust due to the foaming of the exercise head. Therefore, we have chosen the neutral facial expression for our heads.

Used heads can be disposed of in the residual waste. If you have any concerns, please contact us. We also take back used heads and donate them to kindergartens and various organizations.

All heads except the protein hair and mixed hair heads are suitable for dyeing. Before the first dyeing a light bleaching wash is recommended. The exposure time of the hair colours without heat is 50 minutes maximum. All application and stranding techniques are possible. The hair can be dyed with the usual oxidation hair dyes and direct pullers. Refreshing the hair colour is best done with colour rinses.

At the moment it is unfortunately not possible (yet) to buy already dyed heads. However, you are welcome to contact us if you have any questions regarding the colour on the training head, need a custom-made head, or if you want you can consult the care instructions.

Some LIMAGE heads are suitable for bleaching. It is important that the base of the heads is not lighter than dark blonde and that the heads have real hair. The recommended material for bleaching is bleaching powder + H2O2 1.5% (maximum 3%). Before the first colouring, it is always advisable to wash the head with a bleaching powder, which is possible with almost all training heads. But attention: always remember that the hair has already been chemically treated and lightened.

The human hair of the LIMAGE heads can be treated with any standard perm. The dosage corresponds to stressed or coloured hair. The application time should be soft and short. When choosing a wrap, a wrap thickness greater than the desired target is suitable. A quick fix can be used as a fixative. Protein hair and mixed hair heads are not suitable for permanent waves due to their heat sensitivity.

Indian human hair can be treated with heat without hesitation. For heads with protein or mixed hair, please be careful when using curling irons and/or straightening irons. Please avoid temperatures above 120 degrees without using a heat spray just like you would with clients.

In principle, all heads from a hair length of 50cm are suitable for up-dos. Here there are about 20 models with this length. Now it is up to you and your personal taste to choose the right LIMAGE-head. There are 50-70 cm long heads with or without shoulders in blond or brown.

Louisa and Luna both have 60cm hair length, but different faces. It is the same with Elena and Raphaela, only with the difference that these two heads have 50cm long human hair.

Please do not measure the hair length in the neck. The hair lengths given in the LIMAGE-Shop and in the catalogue refer to the front of the head. Also, here we can only give an approximate indication. Most of the shorter hairs are implanted in the neck, so that in the end a light, natural gradation is created.

A first hair loss with the doll head is completely normal. If there is still an unusually severe hair loss after the first time working or washing, please contact us!

You are welcome to use the thinning or modelling scissors to work out support hairs, which will help you especially when teasing your hair. Washing once (please refer to our care instructions on washing hair) is often helpful to be able to work on the hair better afterwards. Protein hair is generally not as grippy as Indian human hair. In this case, we also recommend cutting with thinning or modelling scissors.

Practical work is a matter close to our hearts. During the implantation process in our production, we always try to imitate natural hair growth in order to enable you to have practical training on your L'IMAGE head. With LIMAGE heads, bundle hair (hair of the same length) is implanted. As the hair on the top of the head has a wider path, it is slightly thinner at the tips.

It can happen, especially with light-blond or white training heads, that the hair is porous. Please keep in mind that dark European hair has been lightened with a long bleaching process. With the right care (here our spray treatment is also very suitable) you will definitely get a grip on it.

Unfortunately, it sometimes happens in production during implantation, which is 100% manual work, that occasional overused hair is also processed. As synthetic hair is also becoming more and more popular, it can also happen that a small percentage of synthetic hair is implanted at work. Should this problem accumulate on your LIMAGE head, you can contact us at any time.

Unfortunately, sometimes in the production process during implantation, which is 100% handmade, it happens that individual black hairs are added to the blonde hair. However, this circumstance gives the overall picture a more natural look. If you are bothered by this, these hairs can of course be removed.

Since the hair on the training head, unlike our own hair, is chemically pre-treated, there are a few things to be considered regarding care. The most important point is that the hair is NOT treated with a product with acidic pH. The training head hair can react by contracting or tangling. Important tips and tricks for care can be found in the care instructions supplied, but you can also download them at any time from the download area

The pre-treated real hair of the LIMAGE-mannequin heads needs to be treated similar to the hair of your customer.

One difference, however, is that you should work with pH-neutral to slightly alkaline products when it comes to care.
Spray treatments are also always a good care for the doll's head. Please avoid pulling the hair or leaving hairspray or toupages in the hair. All these points can also be found in the care instructions that come with each training head or in the download area on our website.

In order to provide your LIMAGE head with the best possible care, it is advisable to use pH-neutral to slightly alkaline care products. We have therefore developed a range of products specifically for chemically pre-treated hair. To ensure that you can enjoy your training head for a long time, we recommend the regular use of our care products.

Before the first use, the hair tie is removed, if present. We recommend the training heads are gently brushed and washed prior to use although this is not essential. The head should only be washed in the falling direction of the hair. When combing the hair for the first time, a first slight hair loss is harmless. Always brush out any hairspray and styling residues before any further use.

All LIMAGE heads are suitable for applying make-up. For this purpose, the original make-up is removed with nail polish remover. Nail polish is suitable as a substitute for lipstick. Eyeliner and eye shadow can be used for the eyes, for fixing the make-up we recommend hairspray. There are still a few things to consider, which you can best read up on in the care instructions provided. You can also download the care instructions in the download area.

A LIMAGE head is largely handmade. First the hair is chemically pre-treated and refined. During the refinement process, the Asian hair is dipped into an acidic chlorine solution, the cuticle (layer of dandruff) is partially or completely removed, so that the hair is thinned to such an extent that its thickness corresponds to European hair. Then they are bleached in selected colour depths and bundled. Four to six hairs per stitch are implanted by hand into the plastic head, which is then filled with PU foam. Finally, the make-up is sprayed on by hand with an airbrush.

The real hair of the LIMAGE-heads comes mainly from India. There, women have their hair, some of it knee-length, shaved off in temples to ask for the protection and grace of their deity. In addition, we receive the majority of the hair from the combing out and sale of Indian women. The hair is then collected and sold in production facilities worldwide. However, there are also heads with Chinese or European human hair.

The individual hair tufts are held together with red and blue threads. When implanting the individual hairs, it is possible that these threads are also implanted. They can simply be pulled out or cut off.

Approximately 135g-200g of hair are implanted on a competition head from LIMAGE, depending on the length of the hair.
A training head from LIMAGE has approx. 80g-190g of hair implanted on it, depending on the length of the hair. For more detailed information you can contact us.

After the hair has been implanted into the head, the head is filled with PU foam. This makes it impossible to loosen the skin and implant new hairs.

Sometimes even we are surprised by the big rush for some articles. The long production and delivery times unfortunately do not allow us to get supplies within days. Therefore, it can happen that an article is sold out for several weeks. However, you are welcome to pre-order your desired head on the "Preorder-Button". It will be shipped as soon as it is in stock again.

Each country has different import sales taxes and value added taxes on articles. If you order from a country outside the UK and have a tax number or if you are from a third country (EU,USA, Australia, Canada...), you do not have to pay the UK VAT 20% at checkout. However, you may have to pay different fees. Please contact your local postal office for more details.

A training head belongs to every apprenticeship. Which training head is the right one does not depend on the year of training, but on what is to be practised: Wrapping perm, water wave, hair dyeing or haircuts with different cutting techniques. With the right sequence of cuts and proper care, a training head can last a lifetime of training. For more advice on which head is best for you please get in touch.

Various heads are required for the master's examination. On the one hand, it is advisable to get a longhair head with shoulders, such as Elena, Raphaela, Luna or Louisa (please check with the school to see what the requirements are). On the other hand you need one or the other training head, like Sabine or Nicola.

With the OMC seal of approval, you can participate with all competition heads in national and international competitions.

All competition heads are certified with the OMC seal. Therefore, they are suitable for all national and international competitions. Together with swirls, four to six hairs per stitch and a very natural look, they are especially popular in education, training, industry and especially for competitions.
